In the crowded space of athletic footwear, new brand Lane Eight’s mission is to deliver a sneaker that provides the needs of the everyday athlete: active people who aren’t defined by their fitness. And, they wanted to do this at a price that is accessible to everyone. With the launch of their SS19 collection, their Trainer AD1 has been priced at $95 USD.
For those unfamiliar with the Trainer AD1, it boasts a one-piece knit upper that offers stretch and support, as well as engineered zones with ventilation, providing a supportive, sock-like fit. There’s also natural suede and leather overlays for abrasion-resistance, while the cross-lacing system extends down your foot to make sure you’re snug and secure. An ETPU sockliner was designed with comfort in mind, while the EVA midsole is a full-length foam midsole for bounce and a plush feeling under your foot.
For SS19, Lane Eight’s Trainer AD1 is offered in a new set of full-tonal colorways, inspired by the spaces in which we move and play — concrete sidewalks to terra cotta hiking trailers.
“We knew that it would take some time to get here — as a small business it can be tough to offer ‘value’ to your customers because we don’t have the economies of scale that larger brands have,” Lane Eight said in a press release. “Add to that, a wholesale business model which by nature adds a markup and makes products more expensive. By refocusing on a purely direct-to-consumer model, we’re now able to lower our price point without compromising quality. In less than a year since our launch, we’re finally on track to deliver on our mission of getting better shoes on more people.”
