Foot Locker’s Collaboraid series continues this week, as the brand delivers the K-Swiss x Jen Bartel Classic VN.
Bartel is an award-winning illustrator and artist who’s created comic book covers for Marvel, Disney, and Chronicle Books. She’s previously collaborated with Adidas on superhero-themed sneakers. She uses her Korean roots as inspiration for her Collaboraid project with K-Swiss.
“I wanted to pull from my own personal heritage,” Bartel says of her collaboration with K-Swiss. “Growing up in Korea, it was impossible to avoid imagery of tigers, as they are a greatly revered symbol of strength, wisdom, and resiliency. Despite facing extinction in recent years, tigers used to roam the Korean peninsula for most of recorded history. Recently, they have begun to reappear in the northern mountains—a testament to their perseverance in the face of great adversity. In these uncertain times, my hope is that we’re all able to channel the qualities of the Tiger Soul.”
The K-Swiss x Jen Bartel Classic VN is available now at Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Footaction and Eastbay in women’s sizing only for $150 USD.
Foot Locker’s Collaboraid is the company’s corporate giveback initiative. Collaboraid products drop every Wednesday through Nov. 11 and brings together more than a dozen notable creatives with a shared mission of aiding in the recovery from COVID-19 through sneaker culture.
