The bright lights, glitz and glamour of Las Vegas has not only attracted tourists and casino fans from all over the world, but the world-famous American city has also attracted some of the biggest showbusiness acts to perform in the iconic destination.
Indeed, there have been a number of legendary names to have performed over the years, with many having gone on to have Las Vegas residences as they have been huge names within their respective fields.
Of course, whilst a top Casino UK brand can only hope to establish a presence for themselves there, these acts have all managed to create headlines for what they have managed to do in the great city.
Elvis Presley
Simply known as ‘The King of Rock and Roll’, Elvis Presley is one of the biggest acts to have ever performed in Las Vegas.
In 1969, things were not looking too good for him as his career had suffered majorly because of a decision he made to go into films, whilst some of his albums did not quite cut what people had wanted. Nonetheless, an opportunity to perform in Las Vegas helped to reboot his career and elevate him to stardom once again.
Indeed, whilst he was reluctant to do it, there is no doubt that he was one of the most successful and biggest stars to have ever performed there, with his impact being felt by his number 1 hit ‘Suspicious Minds’ as it went to the top of the charts after his 1969 residency at the International Hotel.
David Copperfield
One of the world’s most famous – and commercial – magicians ever, David Copperfield has been a huge draw for many to the Las Vegas area.
The magician, who has managed to perform stunts such as making the Statue of Liberty disappear, flying over the Grand Canyon and walking through the Great Wall of China, has had a residency for many years and does not appear to be slowing down any time soon, despite having a chain of eleven resort islands in the Bahamas to manage.
Copperfield still performs regularly, as he has around 15 90-minute shows in which he performs regularly, whilst also looking to bring new magic to the table with each one.
Celine Dion
Celine Dion is one pop artist who has certainly helped pave the way for female popstars to get their own Las Vegas residencies because of how successful she has been; Lady Gaga and Britney Spheres are just a couple of those to have been successful, with Shania Twain having recently started one.
Of course, Dion is perhaps famous for her song “My Heart Will Go On” as it was made the main song for the legendary film, Titanic. The song has gone on to be one of the best-selling singles of all time with over 18 million worldwide sales, whilst it also became the second-best-selling single by a female artist.
She has been such a draw for visitors to Las Vegas, she has had two residencies across two decades, thus making her one of the biggest showbiz acts ever.
Special mentions
Of course, there are far too many to talk about when it comes down to the biggest showbiz acts to have performed in Las Vegas over the years, however the likes of Penn & Teller, Frank Sinatra, Cirque de Soleil and Liberace have all performed in the bright lights that the city has to offer, showing how big of a draw the city in the state of Nevada really is!
