Jack Daniel’s has officially revealed the latest addition to its acclaimed Special Release Series: the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye, a Barrel Proof Tennessee Rye Whiskey matured in one of the oldest barrelhouses at the Jack Daniel Distillery.
The new Tanyard Hill Rye takes its name from one of the historic barrelhouse sites located beside the famed Coy Hill. Known for its intense climate variations, the area’s deep winter chills and sweltering summer heat cycles have helped shape a whiskey with remarkable depth and complexity.
A Whiskey Born from One of Lynchburg’s Oldest Barrelhouses
Tanyard Hill is home to four barrelhouses built in the early 1960s, each contributing to Jack Daniel’s heritage of craftsmanship. The Tanyard Hill Rye whiskey was originally barreled in November 2015 and matured in Barrel House 1, where it absorbed the unique environmental character of the Tennessee hollow.
As part of the Single Barrel Special Release series, each batch is bottled at barrel proof, ranging between 130.2 and 148.8 proof (65.10% – 74.40% ABV), delivering an authentic and unfiltered experience for whiskey enthusiasts.

The Taste of Tanyard Hill Rye
The Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye follows the distillery’s Tennessee Rye mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley, charcoal filtered before aging in new American white oak barrels.
- Aroma: dark fruit and sweet oak
- Palate: candied mint, dark chocolate, and layers of baking spice
- Finish: lingering clove and sweet tobacco balanced by smooth, lasting oak
