For a brand built on sneaker culture and military-surplus swagger, the campus bookstore was never the obvious next stop. UNDEFEATED has spent 24 years collaborating with Nike, BAPE, Converse and Vans, and has spent the last several picking off pro sports one vertical at a time — the Dodgers, the LA Kings, the Yankees by way of New Era, the USWNT, and in 2023 its first soccer sponsorship, putting the five-strike logo on Birmingham City’s kit. Never a university.
That changes September 25, when the brand releases its first collegiate collection in partnership with College Vault, the archival merchandise program run by collegiate licensing giant CLC.
The timing isn’t accidental. UNDEFEATED is approaching its 25th anniversary, and rather than mine its own back catalog, it’s mining everyone else’s.

Thirteen Schools, Pulled From the Archives
The first capsule covers 13 college football programs: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, LSU, Oklahoma, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M.
Eight of those thirteen are SEC schools. Three are Big Ten. Two — Georgia Tech and Stanford — are ACC. For a first swing at a market this size, that’s a roster weighted almost entirely toward the conference that sells the most merchandise, with a couple of programs picked for the strength of their old logos rather than their current television ratings.
The designs pull from each school’s historical trademarks rather than the sanitized logo packs athletic departments push today. The Auburn piece runs the old snarling, mid-leap tiger — the one that lived on game-day tees decades before the current interlocking AU treatment. Tennessee gets a vintage mascot graphic under a stacked collegiate arch. Alabama, Indiana and Illinois each get throwback mark treatments with UNDEFEATED’s five-strike logo sitting beside the school mark rather than competing with it.
That restraint is the tell. Most brand-meets-school collabs turn into a logo fight. Here the five strikes read more like a co-sign than a takeover.

What’s in the Collection
Pricing across the capsule, per the brand:
| Piece | Price |
|---|---|
| Hoodie | $130 |
| Sweatpants | $120 |
| Sweatshort | $65 |
| Logo Tee | $55 |
| Snapback | $50 |
| Tote | $25 |
| Cup 2-Pack | $14 |
| Sticker Pack | $12 |
The range matters. At $55, the tee sits well above a bookstore blank and well below a designer collab — roughly where a standard UNDEFEATED graphic tee already lives. The $12 sticker pack and $14 cup two-pack are the giveaway that this is built for tailgates, not just for resale queues.
Why College Vault Is the Right Partner
College Vault isn’t a brand in the usual sense. It’s a licensing program CLC built specifically to let universities merchandise their retired logos — the marks fans have real memories attached to, which schools otherwise can’t easily put back into circulation.
CLC represents nearly 800 collegiate brands, including the NCAA, the College Football Playoff and the Heisman Trophy, with a network of more than 4,000 licensed manufacturers. Founded in 1981, it’s now part of Learfield. In other words, CLC holds the keys to the archive, and College Vault is the door.
“When it comes to the intersection of sport, fashion, and street culture, UNDEFEATED has long set the standard,” said Nicole Armentrout, Senior Vice President of Marketing at CLC. She framed the pairing as something built for longtime fans and new audiences at the same time.
The Nostalgia Economy Comes for College Football
This is the same current running through everything right now. Old formulas, old logos, old packaging — repriced and reissued for people who either remember them or wish they did. It’s why 90s snacks and drinks keep coming back, why classic sports brands like Fila and Champion clawed their way back, and why a heritage label like Troop can be resurrected on the strength of a memory alone.
College sports were sitting on the largest untapped archive of all of it. Every program has decades of retired mascots, wordmarks and helmet graphics that never left the emotional register of the people who grew up with them — and until now, almost none of it had been handed to a streetwear brand with real credibility.
(Editorial read, not a claim from the brand: collegiate licensing has been the last major sports vertical streetwear hadn’t seriously entered. Pro leagues have been picked over for a decade.)
Whether that translates into the kind of hype cycle UNDEFEATED generates around its footwear is a separate question. The brand’s Jordan 4 collaborations have spent two decades as some of the most sought-after sneakers in existence, but the resale market has cooled substantially, and college merch buyers behave differently than sneaker buyers — they’re loyal to one school, not to a brand’s full release calendar.
Preview Tour and a December Follow-Up
Before the national release, select pieces were previewed through game-day activations in Austin, Atlanta and Chicago — bringing the collection to campus communities on their own turf rather than launching it cold into a boutique.
A second capsule follows in December, shifting from football to college basketball. The programs for that drop haven’t been announced yet.
Where to Buy
The first capsule drops September 25 at UNDEFEATED’s New York, Phoenix and Los Angeles stores, and online at UNDEFEATED.com, where per-school collection pages for all 13 programs are already live ahead of the release.
